Hi, my name is Maya, and I am so excited to start my own blog. I am a student in Mrs. Yollis' 3rd grade class in Los Angeles, California. I chose to name my blog Maya's Mythical Memories because I love dragons and mythical creatures. I enjoy watching movies like The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Percey Jackson, and How to Train Your Dragon.

I love animals! I have two pets, a dog and a fish. My dog's name is Jasper and he is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. My fish is a Betta and her name is Britney. My favorite animals are the sea otter, elephants, dogs, chinchillas, hampsters, rhinos, and owls. I also like bugs.

DeleteMy favorite animal is the sea otter. They are so cute! I can't wait to visit them at the Long Beach Aquarium with you sometime soon.
I have lots of favorite movies, but I think my very best favorite is the Harry Potter series. My favorite scene of all the movies is in The Order of the Phoenix, when Dumbledore fights Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic.

My favorite hobbies are writing stories, watching movies, collecting posters, and making things with my hands. I don't know if I have a favorite animal, but I do think our little Jasper is pretty cool :) Picking a favorite movie is tough. I have so many, but you know that Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings are two of my favorites also. I have fond memories of watching Star Wars for the first time. That movie was so incredible. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before, and I got lost in the mythology of that world.

DeleteThis is fun, I like it! Needlepoint is where you create a picture that looks a little like a painting out of yarn. When you come to my house I will show you pictures I have made and also the new picture of flowers I am working on now.
A few of my favorite movies are: Back to the Future, the 1st Star Wars movies, all of the Harry Potter movies, Goonies, Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. I love Romantic Comedies so that's mostly what I watch.

DeleteThat's great that you want to try some needlepoint art with me. We can go shopping for a small kit that is easy to do to get you started. A lot of the small kits are animals and I know you would like that. When you are done you can frame the picture and put it in your room or give it as a gift.
I think my favorite Harry Potter is the first one when the kids are so young and just starting the school. What is your favorite?
Do you have special plans for celebrating with your Mom on Mother's Day coming up soon. You know I think your Mom is the best Mom in the world not just because she is my daughter! I don't get to be with my Mom on Mother's Day because she lives far away, as you know, in Kentucky. I am sending her a card and present and will call her that day. I miss her!

DeleteMy favorite dragons are Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon and the Komodo Dragon (which is real). I got a stuffed Komodo Dragon last time I went to the LA Zoo. I love dragons alot! DeleteI wanted a dog for my whole life! We had to wait until my baby brother turned two so the dog could not hurt him.
A dog is a lot of responsibility. You have to feed them, give them water, clean up after them, wash them, play with them and be home to take them potty. You will love having a dog though, they are so much fun!

My family and I have only one pet, a cat called Seamus. He is about 14 years old. Seamus spends most of his day sleeping in the sun (I think he might be part lizard!)
Being a teacher doesn't leave a lot of time for hobbies, but I do like to go for walks, and I do like to read.

I too have pets and love them. Let me tell you about my desert turtle, Cinnamon. Now about 14 years old, Cinnamon hybernates about 5 months out of the year in my husband's closet. She snuggles under a pile of sweatshirts in between the shoes and various other things left on the floor in the closet. Last week I figured it was time to wake Cinnamon up so she could eat and take a bath. Cinnamon enjoyed her long bath in the bathroom sink where she drank and drank to her hearts content. Then I put her on the floor to eat up her first meal of the year which included a bit of ground and cooked turkey, cooked kale, a bite of banana and some cooked French lentils... you see she is California "foodie" , but instead of eating anything, Cinnamon turned right around and headed back to the closet where she is now sound asleep again. Oh well, I'll have to wake her up again in a day or so to get her ready to embrace the day. Sometimes I'd like to go back to sleep in the morning too, wouldn't you?

DeleteThank you for your comment. I like lots of different mythical creatures. I dressed as one for Halloween. I was a Fiery Phoenix. That is a bird that that catches on fire.
Here are some other mythical creatures: Troll, goblin, giant, centaur, pegasus, fairy, minotaur, dwarves, gnome, mermaid, leprechan and gollum.

ReplyDeleteToday the 3 chinchillas are celebrating their 8 month birthday. Number 3 wants to decorate the floor around his cage with timothy hay. (He started on it this morning) Number 1 has been planning a food pellet dance where they dance in their food dish. Number 2 is planning a surprise. I never know what he is going to do next. I will be giving them an extra raisin for their birthday party. Of course they have to give me a kiss on the nose to get it!
Come to think of it. Pepper and Rocky were trying real hard to get on top of the little guy's cage this morning. I opened their cage door and both darted out, jumping over the water bottle to get on top of the neighboring cage. They must have gotten an early invitation to the birthday party. Of course I had to shoo them back into their own cage. Maybe tonight we can give them all an outing.
The chins enjoyed their stay at your house. I could tell because they were a lot more tolerant of my tickling their tummies after they got home. They are good little chins. They don't run away. They just bat at our fingers with their little paws, their way of saying "cut that out".
I could talk all day about the "little guys" but I logged on to tell you how great your blog is. I'll be logging on regularily to find out what's happening.

Today Jasper had a bath. We played in the sprinklers together and he got muddy, so we had to clean him off. He was a really good dog and did not try and jump out of the tub. Now he is nice and clean.
